Letter to All Candidates

 Dear All,

I would like to start off the letter with the sentence「莫問前程艱辛，但求落幕無悔」

Tomorrow is the results day for all A Level students. I believe you have tried your best over the past year. No matter what your results are, please don’t regret what you have done.

Examination is just a method which the society separates different level of people. Getting a result which might not meet your expectations is not the end of the world.

Have a good sleep and your hard work would definitely pay off. Good luck!  加油！

Raw Mark and UMS  Author: Ian Lam Raw mark and UMS always happen to appear in university admission requirements, and people always discuss them after their A Level exams, but what actually are they? What are the differences between the two? UMS stands for Uniform Mark Scale; unlike GCSE or IGCSE, UMS is a “virtual mark” that is used to standardize exams from different exam boards. Raw marks would literally be the marks you get in your exam; maybe a 78/80, your raw mark would always be 78. So how is UMS calculated? Similarly to the “grade boundaries” you get in GCSEs, the conversion from raw marks to UMS changes every year according to the performance and the difficulty of the paper. As an example, we would take WJEC 2024 Chemistry A Level as an example.
